In a recent interview with an online platform, Mrs. Akeredolu criticized her late husband's decision to prioritize faith-based healing over science-based medical care. She dismissed the notion that cancer could be linked to supernatural forces, emphasizing the importance of early detection and proper treatment.

“You cannot pray away breast cancer or any cancer at all—quote me! Cancer progresses over time and in four stages. Climbing mountains or performing rituals is simply a waste of time while cancer cells are multiplying,” she stated firmly.

A zoologist and a strong advocate for scientific health solutions, Mrs. Akeredolu condemned the use of religious items such as “blessed” handkerchiefs, water, and olive oil as substitutes for medical intervention. She expressed regret that her advice was not heeded, stating, “If Aketi had listened to me, I wouldn’t be a widow.”

She urged Nigerians to prioritize medical treatment over faith-based healing, warning against relying on pastors or spiritualists for diseases like cancer.
