OSUN GOVT PLEDGES SUPPORT FOR AFCTA IMPLEMANTATION IN OYO STATE

 

This pledge was made in a goodwill message delivered by the Osun State Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Rev. Bunmi Jenyo, during the AFCFTA consultative forum held on Wednesday at the International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan.

Highlighting the importance of the AFCFTA, the Commissioner emphasized its objective to create a unified market that facilitates the free movement of people, goods, services, and investments across Africa.

According to Rev. Jenyo, “As stated in the AFCFTA factsheet, the agreement connects 1.3 billion people across the continent with an estimated combined GDP of $3.4 trillion. It holds the potential to transform Africa into a modern, industrialized, cohesive, and influential player on the global stage.”

“This forum is timely, especially as Nigeria and the South-Western states explore strategies to pivot their economies toward the non-oil sector,” he remarked.

Rev. Jenyo also conveyed Governor Adeleke’s assurance of full support for the AFCFTA initiative in Oyo State, emphasizing its significance in unlocking the economic benefits the agreement offers.
