DRIVER CARRYING DRUGS WORTH $140M ARRESTED AFTER HE CRASHED INTO POLICE CAR

A routine morning turned into a major drug bust in Eastwood, north of Sydney, Australia on Monday when a 28-year-old driver crashed a van loaded with methamphetamines into a parked police patrol car.

The van, carrying 270 kg (600 lbs) of the illicit drug with an estimated street value of A$200 million ($140 million), crushed the patrol car’s bonnet before the driver sped away.

The incident, captured on CCTV, led police to apprehend the driver an hour later. A NSW Police handout photo shows the extensive damage to the patrol car, which was unoccupied at the time of the crash.

Authorities described the crash as a stroke of luck, as the van’s cargo was discovered during the subsequent investigation, resulting in one of the largest methamphetamine seizures in the region. The driver now faces serious drug trafficking charges.
