A 36-year-old lady, who faked her identity with hijab, has been nabbed for being in possession of hard drugs.

The lady, whose real name was given as Chioma Afam, was arrested by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency in Benue State along with her 22-year old partner, whose name was given as Peace Caleb.

Afam, who used multiple identities and wore hijab to evade security checks, was said to have been picked up with her collaborator while attempting to smuggle 296,000 tablets of Diazepam and Exol-5 from Onitsha, Anambra State, South-eastern Nigeria to Gombe State in the Northeast.

According to him, Chioma Afam uses multiple names including Amina, Uzoamaka, and Ifunaya, to cover up her criminal activities, but got arrested on Saturday, July 17, 2021, along with Peace Chidinma Caleb, who also wore hijab as a cover as at the time of her arrest, during routine checks and profiling of inward vehicles into Makurdi, the Benue State capital.

Babafemi disclosed that their vehicle which way on its way from Onitsha, was intercepted along the Makurdi-Alliade Road while heading for Gombe State via Makurdi.

He said, “A search of their vehicle led to the discovery of 43 kilograms of Diazepam and 33kg of Exol-5, both weighing 76 kilograms with a total of 296,000 tablets packed in four large Ghana-must-go bags. Curiously, the two interstate drug traffickers have rebuffed efforts to take pictures with the exhibits without wearing their hijab.”
