PASTOR JAILED FOR STEALING GOAT, TURKEYS, THREATENS OWNER WITH UTUMOKPO


A Pastor of a white garment church, Cherubim and Seraphim Church, was on Thursday sent to jail by an Osun State Chief Magistrates’ Court sitting in Osogbo, Osun State, having been arraigned on a five-count charge bothering on stealing.

The pastor, whose name was given as Solomon Opaalade (pictured above), got the jail term for stealing a goat and turkeys and also threatening the owner of the animals with charms.

The Principal State Counsel from the State Ministry of Justice, Adekunle Adeniyi, disclosed that the pastor stole nine turkeys valued at N270,000 and a goat valued at N18,000 belonging to one Oluwasegun Hammed.


The prosecutor called five witnesses and presented two turkeys and charms recovered from Opaalade as well as a statement written by the defendant.

When he was arraigned on July 15, 2019, Opaalade was accused of stealing nine turkeys and a goat sometimes in March, 2017.

Magistrate Adijat Oloyade, in her judgment, found the defendant guilty of three of the five counts and subsequently sentenced him to 18 months’ imprisonment on each of them or an option of paying N10,000 fine for each of the counts.
