Dr. Ogah gave this assurance at his office in Abuja when the executive members of the Economic Strategic Growth and Development Initiative of Africa, ESGADIA, led by its Chairman, Prof. Patrice Lumumba and its Executive Director, Maazi Obinna Agummuo paid him a courtesy visit.

The Minister disclosed that the Ajaokuta Steel Rolling Mill will create millions of jobs once the systems and metallurgical machines become fully operational.

Dr. Ogah stressed that his focus and that of the Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Arch. Olamilekan Adegbite was to reduce export of raw materials and begin to refine them into finished products just as plans are underway to establish a gold refinery in the country.

Earlier, the Chairman of ESGADIA, Prof. Patrice Lumumba expressed his joy that President Buhari appointed a member of the group as Minister of State, Mines and Steel Development, stating that they were also at his office to present research materials on the mining sector for collaboration with the ministry.

The Executive Director of ESGADIA, Maazi Obinna Agummuo noted that the Mines and Steel Development sector remains the bedrock of the development of Nigeria, especially the housing sub sector.

He explained that establishing mining processing plants and refinery for both gold and cement will create more jobs and earn foreign exchange.
