The Presidential candidate for Kowa Party in Nigeria's
2015 Elections, Prof. Remi Sonaiya has spoken against the handling of the choice
of principal office of the House of Representatives by Speaker Hon. Femi Gbajabila.
In a message on her official twitter handle, the retired
Professor of French and Applied Linguistics, said House Speaker, Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila,
sounded more than a tad arrogant today, and warned you that he should not test
the resolve of the Green Chambers; wondering why Mr. Gbajabiala would tell his honourable
colleagues, “I warn you not to test the resolve of this House. Otherwise, you
would regret it."
Here’s how she put it, “House Speaker, Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila,
sounded more than a tad arrogant today, wouldn't you say? ‘Not your best
practices example of parliamentary language.’”
It will be recalled that crisis
had broken out on the floor of the House of Representatives on Tuesday which
set members on a collision course over the appointment of leaders for the
chamber.
Mr. Gbajabiamila had been irked
by the irreverent way some House members had conducted themselves, prompting
the Speaker to react in a manner that has been considered a bit authoritarian.
