Morayo-Afolabi-Brown |
The lead anchor and producer of “Your View”,
an infotainment programme on TVC, Mrs. Morayo Afolabi Browne, has resigned.
Wassupnow, an online news platform, reports that she resigned from the
television station as the Deputy Director of Programmes on the entertainment
channel.
In a statement by the organisation, she decided to stand down
from her position in order to enable her spend more time with her family.
During her time with the company, the statement added, she
helped to build the channel into one of the top performing stations across Nigeria,
with a lot of viewers hooked on her show every weekday.
Despite her resignation, she will still stay in the TVC Family
as the main host of the Your View programme, in addition to presenting other
programmes.
Folarin Olakunle takes over from Morayo as Head of Programmes,
TVC E with immediate effect.
Recall that recently, Afolabi-Brown had, on her show, while
she and her team members were discussing the menace of child molestation in the
country, said she wouldn’t allow her husband to bathe their daughter, out of
fear that he might molest her.
In her words, “I absolutely trust my husband, but I
won’t take chances and have him bathe my daughter, because whether we like it
or not, there is something flying in the air these days that is encouraging
imbalance and immoralities. I actually trust my husband, but I’m just being
careful because people that have experienced this kind of situation also
trusted their husbands and yet, it happened.”
But following the outrage that greeted the statement from fans and viewers over
what they termed to be a reckless statement, she had twitted her apologies afterwards, saying, “The last 24 hours have been tougher than
I expected, my sincere apologies to my husband, I love, trust and respect you!
It was an error and I'm really sorry!”
