BUHARI’S SECOND TERM AND NIGERIA’S FUTURE -BY MONDAY O. UBANI

Monday O. Ubani.

The second tenure of President Muhammadu Buhari's government started in earnest on the 29th of May, 2019. Knowing the precarious nature of our economy and security, one had expected a pronouncement from the new government that was just being sworn in at the national level.

Alas, there is silence everywhere! To compound the silence, the President is outside the country to attend to a meeting that I think does not have any economic or political relevance to Nigeria.

President Muhammadu Buhari,at his inauguration for second term on May 29,2019.

Does President Buhari really understand the heavy burden on his shoulders to steer the ship of this country to safety? Does he know that majority of Nigerians are not happy with the sorry state of Nigerian affairs today? Do the people around him know that Nigeria is in a deep slumber?

Who will be bold enough to tell Mr. President that Nigeria today is not in good shape economically, politically, socially, etcetera? Is the President going to maintain his "slow" attitude to governance, which has been his hallmark for the last four years in this new beginning?

Who will join me to tell Mr. President the truth that Nigeria is not healthy and requires urgent and constant attention? His frequent travels and slow attitude to urgent national issues cannot help us in this second tenure and that is the truth known by even those in the present government.

My love for Nigeria will not allow me to keep quiet!
