THE AMAZING STORY OF ABIA STATE -BY MONDAY ONYEKACHI UBANI

Okezie Ikpeazu, Executive GovGov., Abia StateState, South East Nigeria.

Abia State is steeped in sorrow. From creation till date,  the State remains the least developed and the most misgoverned in the entire federation. My position as an active member of the legal profession  and as an executive member  both at the branch  and national level within the Bar made it possible for me to travel and know many states in the country. 

There is no State Capital like Umuahia, the most primitive and least developed in the entire federation.

This state of affairs came as a result of an inept, very corrupt and incompetent leadership that have presided over the state of affairs over the years. The worst era started from T.A. Orji for eight years and sprawling into Ikpeazu's era where incompetence is glorified and magnified. Imagine a state like Ebonyi that does not have oil has developed four standard and internationally acclaimed flyovers in Abakiliki. 

Abakiliki, the State Capital of Ebonyi today is fully developed as a state capital whereas Umuahia that was the state capital when Ebonyi was under the old Abia State looks like a rural setting  in every material particular. What Abia under Ikpeazu can boast as at today with regards to flyover is just seven pillars with a promise to complete it next year because election is around the corner, what a shame!

What is more amusing is the recent penchant to deride Mazi Otti, the gubernatorial candidate of APGA by Ikpeazu led government officials because of the recent financial acquisition of Diamond bank where he once presided as CEO by Access Bank

To them, Otti has no moral right to seek office as the Governor of Abia if he was unable to manage the affairs of Diamond as the CEO successfully. Laughter! So you now ask WHAT MORAL RIGHT DOES DR OKEZIE IKPEAZU HAVE TO RE-CONTEST FOR THE POSITION OF GOVERNORSHIP AFTER SQUANDERING BILLIONS OF NAIRA HE COLLECTED FROM THE FEDERATION ACCOUNT  FOR THE PAST THREE AND HALF YEARS AS THE GOVERNOR OF ABIA STATE? Abia of today is totally dilapidated, Aba stinks and Umuahia is a house of REFUSE. EVERYWHERE IN ABIA IS A MUSEUM OF DILAPIDATION! What we have is Billboard governance, everywhere you go all you will see is Ikpeazu's billboard. Embarrassing!

Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter, ABIA DESERVES A CHANGE OF GUARD. THE FORCES HOLDING ABIA HOSTAGE MUST GIVE WAY TO GOOD GOVERNANCE. LET US TRY SOMEONE ELSE AS ABIANS WANT TO REJOICE.
